MnAEYC Summer Leadership Institute
The MnAEYC Summer Leadership Institute is coming up, and you won’t want to miss the session on Early Learning Scholarships & Workforce Supports. Here’s what you can expect:
Session Details: The session will be conducted by Leo Howard III from 80x3 and Jamie Brother from MDE (Minnesota Department of Education). They’ll discuss the newly added priority populations to the early learning scholarships list. You’ll learn how to connect families with these scholarship opportunities. Additionally, they’ll delve into the workforce supports available through the Greater Twin Cities United Way’s 80x3 initiative.
How to Affirm Racial Identity in Early Learning Spaces
During this engaging hybrid workshop, Dr. Sturdivant will share the importance of starting early with work that supports positive racial identities. Then, participants will engage in activities and small group discussions and reflect on ways to affirm racial identity in early learning spaces. Through brief lectures and interactive activities, participants will leave with an actionable plan to support the developing identities of children in their current or future classrooms, as well as those they help to influence outside of the classroom.
Participants will:
understand the importance of affirming marginalized racial identities understand the importance of starting in infancy when affirming race engage in racially affirming activities for young children establish a plan to affirm racial identities in early learning programs.
This is a Develop Approved event for 2 hours of in-service.
Understanding NEAR Science: Building Self-Healing Communities Presentation
Hosted by the Montessori Center of Minnesota and sponsored by 80x3, an initiative of Greater Twin Cities United Way, FamilyWise is bringing NEAR Science research to the Early Childhood Education community.
Joing us to learn how childhood adversity impacts our lives, the lives of our children, and the health of our communities. This presentation highlights key findings from the fields of neurobiology, epigenetics, epidemiology, and resilience research, demonstrating the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on health and well-being and offering strategies to build resilience.
The goal of this presentation is to build a common understanding about NEAR Science as a starting point. All are welcome, and we encourage diverse cultural and identify groups to attend this presentation. Each of us hold wisdom to create healthier communities and attendees are encouraged to think about how this information can be applied within their own family, work life, and community.
